3 min readUpdated 04-Nov-2026

Signs it's time

  • Hard to start, especially in the morning
  • Petrol average has dropped
  • Engine misses or jerks at low speed
  • It doesn't pull well on a flyover or with a passenger

What a proper tuning includes

  • Carburettor cleaned and idle/mixture set
  • Spark plug cleaned or replaced, gap set
  • Air filter cleaned or replaced
  • Chain cleaned, tightened and oiled
  • Brakes and clutch cable adjusted

How often

For a daily rider, roughly every 1,000 to 1,500 km or every 2 to 3 months. Change engine oil more often, usually every 700 to 1,000 km, or as your bike's book says. These are general guides; your mistri can tell you what your bike needs.

Still stuck? A checked bike mistri can help.
